I was recently contacted by M&Co and asked if I wanted to take part in their blogger challenge to style a faux fur coat into a winter look and report back with the results. When I think about fur, I always think of a 1950’s glamorous look, think Cate Blanchett in her latest movie Carol. She looked just amazing and so elegant. So, of course I took up the challenge. My aim was to capture some of that retro glamour and style a modern day outfit, fit for my 30th Birthday Party.
I styled my outfit with a touch of sparkle, my little black dress was from Miss Selfridge and with the wrap around front and long sleeves it was a super-flattering shape, with just the right amount of glitz to not too over the top. I wore thick black tights with my trusty suede heels (which I tottered about on, as I hardly wear heels anymore). Lastly, I added my birthday present from Vee, she had given me this necklace in Paris so I could wear it to the Moulin Rouge, however when this didn’t happen I wanted to wear it for my birthday celebrations in the UK instead – it was the statement piece of the look, the All-Around V necklace from Swarovski.
My Faux Fur coat was the perfect addition – it was a cold, wintery day so it kept me snug and looked elegant too. The inside of the coat is fully lined with a soft satin material with hook and eye fastenings to keep it fastened. A faux fur coat is great for adding that touch of glam, or paired with jeans for a more casual chic look.
Here is my look fully styled:
