Brighton Bloggers: Trevor Sorbie Spring/Summer Event

On Thursday evening I was excited to be invited to a blogger event at the Trevor Sorbie Salon in Brighton. It was a very special occassion as the salon is celebrating it’s 10th anniversary, and Trevor Sorbie is also celebrating 50 years of hairdressing – which is an amazing acheivement. We were greated by the Technical Team, a fun, friendly team with an absolute wealth of knowledge between them and treated to a glass of bubbly or two as we discussed current colour styles which are bang on trend this Spring/Summer season.

Firstly we discussed how the team at Trevor Sorbie plan to celebrate the two big birthdays coming up! They’ve decided to introduce a fantastic deal to celebrate which is a root touch up and blow dry for only £25, this is also an impressive way of lightening just the front sections of the hair, which in turn can brighten any look all over, a small root touch up is not to be underestimated! This is perfect way to freshen up dull looks before a big date or event that won’t break the bank.

As we sipped our bubbly we were then shown a collection of different looks and trends that are going to be huge this Spring/Summer 2014. They had some gorgeous models on hand with hair to make anyone jealous, mood boards to inspire and the technical team showed off their hair styling skills with ease -as if we weren’t impressed already!

Firstly we discussed colour trends. I really loved the gorgeous balayage demonstrated by one of the stunning models, this is a little more subtle than the huge ombre trend last year, the colour runs though the ends of the hair almost like a natural highlight. It’s a really pretty style, one that I will be looking into this Spring/Summer. I imagine the natural light on the hair will just accentuate the lighter shades and make it a perfect look for sunnier days. The other colour trends mentioned include copper and red tones, which aren’t just for the typical Autumn/Winter looks and the full head bleach with pops of pastel colours – a style I love but I don’t think I’d be quite brave enough to do again!

A lot of the talk was around plaits and braids. Lauren from Belle Du Brighton was our model for gorgeous Halo Braids, which will be a fun, funky style for festivals and to wear to the beach in the summer. The key here is to use lots of texturising spray and really mess it up, having perfect braids is a little too ‘school girl’ so don’t worry about them being perfect. They also work well on second day hair, so ideal for the festivals this year.

Next up was the Volumised Ponytail. Art Director, Anna Chapman demonstrated this by backcombing sections from the crown and securing into a low ponytail, which was slightly to the side. She then added volume to the ponytail itself by backcombing the ends. Again, using a lot of product like a sea salt or texurising spray is perfect for this look, the messier the better!

Lastly we discussed deep partings, the stylists tip is to start your parting from the arch of your brow and be bold with it! Anything inbetween won’t quite look right so go for it. Anna was sporting a volumised ponytail and deep parting, which is a look bang on trend this season.

It was a lovely evening, enjoyed by all. I loved a good old catch up with the Brighton Blogging girls, it’s been too long since we all got together! Feeling all inspired by all the fantastic Spring/Summer trends I’m going to be popping into Trevor Sorbie again soon to fix my lacklustre colour before I set off on my travels. Thank you so much to the wonderful team for having us and putting on such a fun event! Looking forward to seeing you again soon!
