New in Haircare: Hairy Jayne

I’m loving new and interesting haircare products at the moment. If you’ve been reading my blog a while, you will know I’m always on a constant mission for glossy, shiny hair and always punish my hair by over-colouring it, using straighteners, back-combing, you name it I do it.
I was excited to hear of Hairy Jayne a ‘geeky hairdresser’ who brews her own hair products herself from a studio in Brixton, London. Inspired by traditional hair remedies, all her products are made from naturally derived ingredients for the best possible results. All products are carefully handmade in small batches to ensure the finest quality and homemade, nostalgic feel. I just had to give a couple of the products a go…
I tried the Hair Perfume with Heat Protect (£9), in Citrus. This is a gorgeous blend of Grapefruit, May Chang and Jasmine. The spray freshens up hair between shampoos, anti-frizz ingredients help to smooth flyaways and add shine. The perfume itself smells utterly divine, and gives hair such a fresh ‘just washed’ feel without the powery texture of dry shampoo. My hair felt soft, shiny and totally gorgeous. I use this every time I have ‘second day hair’ for a boost of freshness and it’s so handy I will be carrying it about with me through Peru with no doubt.
I also gave the Treatment Conditioner (£6/100ml) a whirl. This lovely mixture is a blend of hydrating Silk Amino Acids, moisturising Wheat Protein, Panthenol, Olive Oil and Honeyquat (a modified Honey, which is a natural moisturiser). These ingredients mixed together provide a powerful treatment to hair with locks in nutrients and moisture, coating the cuticle making the hair super shiny too. The conditioner was thick and gorgeously scented, a real treat to the hair. I applied it generously from the ends upwards and left to soak for a couple of minutes whilst I pottered about in the shower. When I washed my hair I could instantly feel how soft and shiny it had become and it styled perfectly. This is a real treat product I’ll be using now and again when my hair needs a boost, and is highly recommended.
I really love the homemade feel of the Hairy Jayne products, there is a cute video of her making the products on her website, it feels really good to support a smaller independent British haircare range, which are amazing enough to boast some of the most salon-professional products I have used. Please do have a look at her website and give the products a try yourself!
