Health & Fitness Update 2: Healthier option Summer Drinks

POM Wonderful Pomegranate and Cloudy Apple Juice / Teapigs Matcha Green Tea Drink
Oops, I’ve just realised it’s been around a month since I last posted a Health and Fitness update….So, let me tell you how I’ve been getting on! It’s been going really well. I’ve been sticking to my Weight Watchers – maybe not quite as religiously as I had hoped, but it must be working as I’ve now lost 6lbs!! I’ve been working on a few dishes that are healthy but have an easy recipe to fit into our hectic lifestyle! It has been really nice as I’ve got to a stage where my friends and family are starting to notice – people have been paying me compliments and my clothes are a little more comfortable, so I’m feeling like all this hard work has been worthwhile. Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve found it really tricky to stick to as there has been so many social events going on – the weather has been so gorgeous which makes me feel like having endless picnics in the park and glasses of Pimms in the sun! I haven’t wanted to be the ‘boring one’ who brings her own food to a BBQ and misses out on drinks with friends, so to balance this I’ve tried to be disciplined with myself during the week. This has worked really well as I’ve managed to balance out my points as I’ve still managed to lose weight and treat myself at the social events too – bonus!
So, enough about me! Today I wanted to talk about favourite healthier drinks, which are the perfect alternative to fizzy drinks. I swear ditching all carbonated, sugar ladened drinks has helped me lose weight so far – did you know Coke has over ten sugar lumps in just one can?! It’s crazy – I won’t be drinking that again! Instead I’ve been reaching for:
POM Wonderful Pomegranate and Cloudy Apple: This is brand new to the POM pomegranate range, I love this blend, as the mix of cloudy apple takes the edge of the sharpness of the 100% Pomegranate juice the POM brand is famous for. The gorgeous blended juice is light and refreshing and brimming with natural goodness. You can buy POM juices from Tesco at around £3.56 a bottle.
Teapigs Matcha Green Tea Drinks: The superhero tea, Matcha can be so bitter sometimes. Even though it’s full of antioxidants and so good for boosting the metabolism, I find it hard to stomach first thing in the morning due to it’s bitter taste. These amazing chilled Green tea drinks from Teapigs are the perfect solution for me, they are ready mixed so ideal to ‘grab and go’ and are a mix of Matcha, fruit juices and spring water. Now I can get my Matcha quota without pulling ridiculous faces and actually enjoying the experience! Light and fruity they taste really great and give me the wake-up kick I need in the morning. Teapigs Matcha Green Tea Drinks are priced at £1.89 per carton and can be ordered from the Teapigs website.
Teatulia Herbal Teas: It’s no secret that I’m a huge tea-addict. I’ve been trying to cut down on my caffeine intake during my health-kick, so have been swapping my evening cuppa for something a little healthier. I love Teatulia as they are certified organic and grown in a single tea garden based in Bangladesh. The flavours and blends are fresh, vibrant and so refreshing. Teatulia is £3.40 per box of 20 bags and are available from Holland & Barrett, Harrods and from September, selected independent health and wholefood stores nationwide.

Next week I need to focus on adding a little more exercise into my routine. I’m thinking of investing in a Fitbit or Polar Loop to keep my exercise habits in check, if anyone has any tips on which is best let me know!

Good luck to all of you on health-kicks yourselves, do comment with your tips/progress or just a general chitchat 🙂
