Looking at buying houses has got me thinking about decorating our new place. Since moving out of home at 18 I’ve only ever lived in rented flats, which has meant there was never much room to decorate or make a place my own. So, you can imagine how excited I am about the prospect of buying somewhere we can completely do up and make our own. Of course, when dreaming about new things the best place to head is Pinterest! I’ve been scouring it for hours, pinning dreamy pictures of everything from cool calm bedrooms, quirky ornaments and DIY ideas, so as soon as we find our dream place I’ve got all of our ideas, at the ready.
I love the idea of a calming neutral bedroom. I quite often find it hard to sleep and am a firm believer that if your surroundings are relaxing it helps with a good nights sleep. Of course I think we’ll need a new bed as we have a double at the moment, but that doesn’t leave much room once naughty little Robbie has jumped in, so I’m thinking we might need a King-size! I love lots of comfy cushions and snuggly blankets for the winter too.
It just wouldn’t be my bedroom if it didn’t have a few quirky pieces too! I just love these biscuit cushions, they are so adorable! The vintage suitcases make a really quirky bedside table too. I often see these in the vintage stores around Brighton and have been so tempted to pick a couple up, but wouldn’t really know where to put them so it’s a great idea. I also have a lot of books, so having a large bookcase is essential.
My other favourite thing to have in my bedroom is lights! I love fairy lights, candles and lanterns. The more the better! Every night before I got to bed I always light a few scented candles as I think it makes a really relaxing atmosphere for chilling out and getting ready for bed. Of course I’m a huge fan of Yankee candles and regularly use my wax tart burner too. I really want to make some of my own candle holders, using jars and bent wire like the image above, it’s such a simple idea but looks really effective.
So, these are my bedroom ideas so far, what do you think?
Just need the house now! 😉

Very interesting inspirations! You didn’t say anything about the floor in your bedroom. I recommend cork flooring – floating and parquet tiles https://www.corkstore24.co.uk/shop/14-cork-flooring/ . Cork floor tiles are water resistant, resistant to crushing and a wonderful aesthetic that creates an unique atmosphere at the same time providing the comfort of use and caring about our health.
