Christmas Time, Mistletoe and Wine….

Christmas this year was a quiet, but a lovely one. On Christmas Day after a lazy morning and a few presents in bed I jumped in the car and headed over to Rottingdean Beach to meet my parents for a stroll along the seafront with a very festive Robbie dog in his tinsel collar. We stopped along the beach (where the sea was particularly sparkly) to remember my sister Vivienne and scattered some gold confetti into the sea in her memory. It was such a beautiful day and lovely start to Christmas morning. I arrived home (merrily singing Christmas Carols) to a fully cooked Christmas roast with all the trimmings….perfect! We snuggled up on the sofa with our lunches and ate until we could not fit another mouthful, washing it all down with large Gin & Tonic.
The afternoon was spent watching the Queens speech (of course!) and a selection of Christmas TV… Dr Who, Call the Midwife, Miranda… all the classics. I slowly worked my way through a tin in Roses and a bottle of Baileys at the same time, I love Christmas!
On Boxing Day, we just had a lovely chilled out day, with an afternoon at the cinema, we went to see Paddington which we both loved! Such a lovely, heart-warming story – perfect for Boxing Day, the little bear reminded me of Robbie-dog. Cute.
A trip into Brighton followed on Saturday, which was a huge mistake as the shops are SO BUSY. I don’t really understand all the December sales, didn’t we just get loads of presents? – why do we need more stuff? I really hate sale shopping so we didn’t hang around long, I bought a few bits and then escaped promptly back home for more Christmas movies and even more chocolate and alcohol (well, it’s Christmas!!!)
Our Christmas weekend was rounded off with a trip to visit family. We went up to Tunbridge Wells in Kent, where all of my family had gathered for Christmas lunch together, along with my gorgeous baby cousin Florence, she is just the cutest and at such a lovely age now, she’s really playful and was bouncing all over the place!
My presents this year included the new Pokemon 3DS game – Alpha Sapphire, a Lady Gaga calendar for my desk at work, a sandwich toaster and a few beauty bits (gel nail varnishes – woohoo!). I got some lovely things, however the best part of it was being able to take time out to relax and spending it with my favourite people
Hope you all had a lovely Christmas – what did you get up to?
