It’s that magical time of year again, when Brighton is buzzing with music, glitz and glamour, as the Ladyboys of Bagkok are back in town! So, of course we popped down (as we do every year) to see their new show Beauties and the Beats.
The Ladyboys is such a great idea for a girls night. When I heard they were in town, I rounded up a group of 6 girlie’s and made a whole night of it. We started with a slap-up meal at one of my favourite restaurants in town, Côte (if you go mid-week, they do a great set menu with three courses for £11.90 – fab!) then headed down to The Sabai Pavilion on Victoria Gardens for the big show.
We grabbed a table right at the front for the best view. Now, a little warning here – that’s ok if you are girls as they won’t pick on you, but men be warned! If you are near the front you may be dragged onto the stage, danced upon or handcuffed to a chair. Just saying. So, with a drink in hand, the show began with a colour and music explosion, the Ladyboys were definitely back in town.
This year you are in for a musical treat – with a real mix of genres, they perform everything from Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry, to songs from Jersey Boys, Grease and even a special tribute to the Sound of Music and Frozen (I’ll never watch those movies in the same way again !) In the second half they ramp up the tempo and you can’t help but want to get up and dance with them. The show isn’t all about the music, but the spectacle too – with over 200 lavish outfits, everything from feathers to sequins to PVC dresses, they are bound to surprise you with their amazing outfits, colours and styles.
All in all, we had a fantastic night, with fun, laughter, dancing and music! If you fancy a night at the Ladyboys in Brighton, then you’ll need to be quick, they are only in town until 31st May. However, they are also touring the UK so look out for them in your local town. It’s a really fantastic night out – highly recommended!
