TRAVEL: The UK ‘Staycation’ trend (plus win a holiday to Devon!)

As you know, I love to travel to furthest far-flung corners of the globe when I can, however sometimes it’s easy to forget the things we have right here on our doorstep in the UK. The other day when I visited Brighton’s Sea Life centre, I had such a lovely time and didn’t even need to leave my home town! Being a tourist in our own country is more fun than it sounds, yet it’s so easy to forget about! Apparently, with the rising airline prices, the UK ‘Staycation’ is becoming ever more popular and can I totally understand why. The UK has some of the most beautiful countryside and scenic landscapes I’ve ever experienced. One of my very favourite parts of the country is the Devon, on the South West Coast.
I’ve enjoyed many a holiday to Devon since I was a child, it’s such a beautiful part of the country with so much to see and do as well. I’ll always remember going there as a little girl and visiting the Donkey Sanctuary, I fell in love with all of them and couldn’t understand why I couldn’t take one home to keep as a pet! Becky Falls is also one of the most beautiful waterfalls I’ve ever seen, we had a magical walk through the woodland to the falls, it’s just stunning.
So, to celebrate Devon and staying in the UK for our holidays I was sent this beautiful Devon Cream Tea Hamper to enjoy. The hamper is filled with local Devon produce and all the ingredients I needed to make a typical Afternoon Cream tea – my favourite! Unfortunately, I didn’t get to enjoy it in Devon, but we did eat it in the tradition Devon ‘style’ – cream first, then jam, it was delicious!

Now for the super exciting news! How would you like to travel to Devon or Cornwall yourself this summer? Parkdean have an amazing competition running on their website at the moment. All you have to do is enter this Cornwall and Devon Quiz and you could win a holiday for yourself and all the family (you don’t even have to get the questions right, I certainly didn’t!)
GOOD LUCK!

  • I do love a nice cream tea and used to spend time in Devon with my grandparents when I was younger. They lived in Budleigh Salterton and we used to go to the beach all the time, it was so lovely 🙂 x
