BRIGHTON: A Very Vintage Makeover

A few weeks ago, I was treated to a very special afternoon indeed. Myself and fellow Brighton Blogger girlies Sophie and Lilla were joined by three #FeelGoodMakeover competition winners for an afternoon of pampering, vintage makeovers and a good old fashioned English tea party at Brighton’s vintage salon Betty-Lou’s on Preston Street. For an even quirkier look, this included getting to change our eye colour with the help of some fab coloured contacts lenses from Feel Good Contacts.

It was an early start on the Sunday morning (well….early for a Sunday) so we were all feeling a little sleepy as we arrived at the salon, but after a few cups of tea and a cupcake or two we were all excitedly chatting about our makeovers to come. One by one, we stepped up to let the talented stylists of Betty-Lou salon work their magic on us.

Here are a few snaps of my amazing vintage hair, complete with gorgeous victory rolls (which took a lot of hairspray to hold!) I’ve never had my hair done like this before so I felt like a I’d been transported back to the 1940’s an an instant! My makeup was then done complete with thick cat-eye liner and beautiful red rouge lips. For my change of eye colour – this was a little bit of a disaster! I have never worn contacts before and struggled at first to get them into place – accidentally  dropping my beautiful green lenses on the floor (silly me). Luckily, the amazing people at Feel Good had a few spares in stock, so I went for a grey colour with flecks of gold, which was quite a bizarre choice for my eye colour but it looked really cool and interesting. Luckily, this pair I managed to apply with no problem at all and they were very comfortable. I think it just takes a little while to get used to putting contacts in but it really isn’t as difficult as it seems once you ‘master’ the technique!
After our makeovers and with a tummy-full of sandwiches, cakes, sweet treats and multiple cups of tea we each had a photoshoot by a professional photographer in the studio at Betty Lou’s. If I didn’t already feel like a pin-up star, I certainly did after my photoshoot and I was pleased with how (some of) my photos turned out too.
It was such a lovely day! I really enjoyed dressing like a vintage star and being pampered for the day, plus I enjoyed the opportunity to experiment with changing my eye colours, this isn’t something I’ve thought about before but it really makes such a difference! One of the girlies tried on beautiful lilac contacts that looked amazing so that’ll be my next colour to try.
Thanks so much to Feel Good Contacts and Betty Lou for having us!
