LIFE: Planning my 30th birthday weekend!

I can’t believe it’s that time of year again, it’s come round so fast! Now is the time when  I start to think about my favourite day of the year – MY BIRTHDAY! Yes, I’m officially the biggest child in the world, but I just love the one day of the year I can call ‘my day’ and this year it’s a big one – it’s my THIRTIETH. So it feels like it’s going to be one to remember.

I love writing these ‘planning style‘ posts, however, this year the planning has been taken completely out of my hands as Vee is organising it all for me. Apparently…. I’m in for a BIG surprise. That doesn’t however stop my ever inquisitive mind from dreaming, wunderlusting (my favourite word) and planning the kind of day I’d like to have – I just can’t help myself when I’m excited. Last year, we had an amazing time at the Hyper Japan Markets and seeing La Boheme at the opera so I hope, and I know we will do something just as fun and special.

So here goes, this is my birthday planning/wishlist so far:

A weekend spa break

Aaah paradise! What would be better than a weekend of spa treatments to totally relax and unwind. I just dream of visiting a Fire and Ice spa with thermal treatments such as the Japanese foot spa, Eucalyptus crystal steam room and Experience drench showers… they all sound just divine! Staying in a countryside manorhouse, eating breakfast looking over the grounds before our treatments would be just perfect.

A city break

There has been some talk that we might be ‘going away‘ so I think this could be a likely candidate…..but where to!? We have had some really magical times in London, so we could be going there for a similar weekend to last year (which I loved) but my gut feeling is that I think we’ll be going somewhere else! I tried to get Vee to spill the beans, but she was having none of it so I’ll just have to dream this one. My dream weekend would be somewhere like Paris, Rome or Bruges, sightseeing and soaking up the local culture, food and wine and spending time with my favourite person in the world.

A countryside cabin

I’ve always dreamt about staying in a cabin, completely in the middle of nowhere. In a beautiful forest, with a hot tub on the balcony. There are some luxury cabins where you can watch the stars via a private observatory in the Lake District, or if you want a chance to glimpse the Northern Lights it’s best to go further afield to parts of Scandinavia. Going somewhere like this would be such an amazing experience and to escape the world for a few days would just be bliss, I wouldn’t want to come back.

So many options! I guess I’ll just have to wait and continue daydreaming until my big day comes and all will be revealed! One thing I do know I’m going to be doing is having a huge dinner with friends in my hometown of Brighton with cocktails, balloons and a big badge saying ‘30‘! My thoughts are – If you are going to celebrate, you may as well do it in style 😉

  • All great ways to start your next decade-can’t wait to read all about your birthday adventures! I’ll be 40 in a couple of years and can’t decide whether to head to New York (my favouritist city) with a couple of close friends and family, or head to Butlins with all my friends and family – my little girl loves the entertainment, but with the new funfair at Minehead Butlins, I can be a proper big child, too! I anticipate both; New York has Macy’s, Sephora and Bath and Body Works!

  • Just under two years till my big one! I think the spa sounds ideal as it doesn’t sound like the bog standard spa break. Whatever your surprise is ‘m sure you’ll have a wonderful time and it sounds like you’re in a great place right now to be welcoming in your 30s. I can only hope I’m in such a great frame of mind too when mine comes around! xx

  • Happy 30th birthday!!! It’s so nice to see someone else who get excited like a child haha. Staying in a cabin is top of my bucket list right now – as long as there’s a cosy fire! I can’t wait to see what you do for your birthday 🙂

    • Thank you! 🙂 I totally get excited like a child… most people are shocked I’m not sad to be turning 30, but I think it’s really exciting.

Oooh yeah, a cabin with a cosy fire – sounds perfect! xx
