Feely jazzy with Superga Brighton

A couple of weeks ago I was invited by stylish Italian footwear brand, Superga to their central Brighton store to check out their new AW15 range. The Superga store opened in the summer and is located opposite the clock tower and if you can remember it, its in the site of the cafe that was owned by Peter Andre (I never did like that place anyway).

Superga are currently causing quite a stir in the fashion world. The brand have actually been around over 100 years and became known after the war as ‘the peoples shoe of Italy’ and since then the classic 2750 style was born. In more recent years, they have transformed their classic 2750 style into a huge range featuring a rainbow of colours in various different styles from flat forms to mid tops and more…. and in my opinion they are some of the most comfortable shoes around.

The store itself has a minimalist, industrial look, with ladieswear on the left and menswear on the right. I did notice there seemed to be slightly more choice for women, but hey – I’m not complaining about that! In summer, they stock an array of bright colours and pastel shades, but the new winter collection is slightly more neutral, opting for shades ranging from dark blues, reds and purples to lighter shades of taupe and grey.

New additions for the autumn/winter collection include a selection of gorgeous fleece lined shoes, in various colours and shapes, the inside fleecing feels so soft and warm and is perfect for keeping little tootsies warm through the winter – I usually ditch my converse this time of year as they jusy get way too chilly so these are just ideal. Also new to the range are the spangly selection of silver, rose gold and gold trainers to brighten those bleak winter days, these come in either the classic 2750 style or in flatforms for extra pizzazz.

After a wandering around the store trying on what seemed like EVERY pair in the store (apologies to Matteo, the store manager!) I finally decided to go for a pair of jazzy metallic 2750’s in Platinum (£50) as they are just so unique and I love the subtle touch of sparkle they bring to an outfit. Vee was with me and didn’t even plan to buy anything, but couldn’t resist. She came away with a gorgeous pair of winter-ready fleece-lined dark blue mid-tops (£60) that are just so snug.

So, after being initially wooed by Superga, the real test is how comfortable they are long term and how well they’ve lasted. We have both been wearing our trainers for around a month now and have found them to be super comfortable and have had some LONG days walking miles around London and Paris recently. The soles really comfortable as they are slightly arched to fit the natural shape of the foot and the fabric is also soft and breathable so you don’t get any nasty rubs or blisters. They have also worn well although both of us have noticed a slight discolouration around the edges, although I think for the amount of wear this is a shame but is acceptable.

Overall, I think what has really made me fall in love with Superga is the design, they have managed to create something that is both simple and clsssic in style yet have also mixed it up with some really funky and unique designs. Added to the fact they are amazingly comfortable I’m thoroughly impressed. As converse girl, I think I’ve been converted.

If you are shopping in Brighton do pop into the store, say hello to the lovely team and see the range. Superga have also have a few other stores dotted around the UK or you can always order online (see their website for more details). Thank you to Superga for inviting us in and I can’t  wait to see what the Spring/Summer collection holds!
