Just recently, I found one of Brighton’s hidden gems – The Creperie. Tucked in just off the seafront on Ship Street this is your one-stop-shop for everything savoury to sweet – there is something to satisfy every craving. After driving past it numerous times, finally I popped in to see what all the fuss is about and decided to go the whole hog, with a full pancake-fuelled sit down meal.
Inside The Creperie, the decor is modern and chic, with a simple, minimalist vibe. The restaurant looks tiny from the outside, but it’s actually bigger than you’d think. With a few tables within the main restaurant and an extra seating area downstairs – there are plenty of tables. It was immaculately clean with funky music playing. A crossover of French cuisine, meets Brighton style for sure.
The menu is varied with so many delicious sounding choices. The Creperie are Brighton’s only 100% Gluten Free restaurant, plus they have collaborated with a couple of my very favourite Brighton brands – Small Batch Coffee and Gelato Gusto.
It took us a while to decide on our savoury fillings, but I decided to go for the Fajita (vegetarian version) and Vee went for the Posh Cheese and Onion. The smell of our fresh crepes cooking was just incredible! The kitchen is right behind the main counter, so you can literally watch your food being prepared.
As you can see, the savoury crepes are just HUMONGOUS, and stuffed to the brim with fillings. Each are served with a side salad garnish and coleslaw and are your complete meal all in one. My fajita crepe was absolutely delicious.
Moving on to my FAVOURITE part – the sweet course. Yes, I know we look like complete piglets to carry on eating after a huge first course, but we chilled out for a while, had a beer or two (they serve gluten free beers, just FYI!) and let our food go down. I couldn’t leave without a sweet crepe, it had to be done.
The Creperie have a huge selection of sweet crepes, also offering a ‘Make Your Own Crepe’ if here is something specific you fancy. Plus they’ll make you a random concoction if you ask for it, like Lemon and Sugar – with grated cheese…. apparently, that is a popular request.
I went for the ultimate in crepe wizardry – ‘Going Bananas’ with added Nutella and Marshmallows, they even topped it with a swirl of whipped cream, it was quite a masterpiece!
Vee tried to be healthy(ish) with the Strawberries and Cream, with an extra topping of caramelised apple. To be fair, thats two of her five a day, right?
At the end of the meal, we were absolutely, truly stuffed but it was SO, SO, GOOD!
I’d highly recommend The Creperie, they really cater for everyone and suit all dietary requirements. You can eat in or take away – plus they are right on the seafront, so next time we are going to grab a crepe and take a walk on the seafront, the location is just perfect. I can’t wait to work my way down that sweet crepe menu!
The Creperie is located between the West Pier and Brighton pier, you can just turn up or to book a table, you can use their website here.
We were kindly invited to The Creperie for a complimentary meal in return for an honest review, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
