Festive Food #2: Sweet Treats!

I am a self-confessed sugar addict. There is nothing I love more than a sweet treat, I would happy skip a meal in a restaurant and just head for the dessert. There no such thing as ‘too sweet’ and chocolate really is the way to my heart (take note Santa). So, today I wanted to share a couple of recent discoveries of new places in Brighton, which are just perfect if you are need of a quick sugar rush.

DUM DUM DONUTS

Dum Dum Donuts Brighton

My first discovery is Dum Dum Donuts – newly opened in Brighton Square, this place is bound to be a hit in Brighton. They are donuts with a difference – these artisan donuts are baked instead of deep friend like a classic donut would be. This takes away the greasiness a ‘normal’ donut would have, which I much prefer! I like to think it must be healthier too, although we will just turn a blind eye to the amount of icing slathered on the top and the buttercream filling! I popped in and picked up this selection box (above) and handed them out to my friends and colleagues. Lots of people commented about how lovely they were and how great it is they aren’t too greasy. Plus, the donuts look beautiful, so are a great office treat or present too. My favourite was the ‘Brighton’ with a little piece of rock stuck to the top – filled with buttercream, it was divine!

PANCAKE CLUB AT NOWHERE MAN

Another AMAZING find is the Pancake Club at Nowhere Man. If I hadn’t seen glorious snaps of pancakes dripping in maple syrup all over Instagram and Twitter, I’d have never known this place existed as it’s a little off the beaten track (for me anyway, being a Rottingdean girl). Located on Upper North Street, Nowhere Man serves the finest American Pancakes with a wide range of toppings. We popped by last Sunday for a lazy brunch and it certainly didn’t disappoint!

Inside the decor is eclectic with various different sized tables, chairs and comfy sofas – the walls are lined with posters, books and quirky ornaments. The place is just effortlessly cool and super cosy. As well as being a venue for the most amazing pancakes in town, Nowhere man also serves great coffee and is music and rehearsal venue too. When we arrived at 11am on a Sunday, the place was jam packed – I’m so pleased we reserved a table! It so popular, I can’t believe I didn’t know it existed until recently! I’ve been missing a trick.

I know I like to rave about sweet treats – but our pancakes literally were the BEST I’ve ever tasted. I was in my absolute element with every mouthful, they were just cooked to perfection. It’s a bit of a drive for us, but that won’t stop us returning for many brunches I’m sure, there is easy street parking outside, but the pancakes make it worth the effort!

I was asked to visit Dum Dum Donuts and Nowhere Man for a complimentary food/drink in return for an honest review – as always, all words, opinions and photography is my own.
