5 reasons to babywear + GIVEAWAY win one of three baby carriers!

5 reasons to babywear

Since Violet was born we have been huge fans of babywearing – We use our baby carrier at least once a day, even 8 months down the line! When Violet was a newborn I think I would have gone a little crazy without it – she didn’t like going in her pram at first,  so I wouldn’t have been able to leave the house without it. Also, how does anyone get anything done without a baby carrier? I have done my make-up, hoovered, cleaned the house, written blog posts, eaten breakfast, made the beds, baked cakes and more – all whilst wearing Violet (not at the same time though, that would be amazing!). When people ask me what are my top baby essentials, a carrier is always high on my list (plus if you keep reading you could win one of three carriers too!)

Finding one that you like can be tricky though, we’ve tried a few, some I’ve liked more than others. I personally never got on with the stretchy wrap kind, I always worried about whether I’d done them up correctly and it felt like Violet would be slipping lower and lower as I walked along. So, I much prefer foolproof options with clips, my very favourite is the Ergobaby 360 and more recently I’ve also discovered the Izmi Carrier which is similar but lightweight. Baby carriers really are personal preference though, so if you have a little one do try a few different styles to see what suits you!

Anyway – if you didn’t already need persuading to babywear, here are a few more reasons:

It’s so Easy

If I need to quickly pop out or walk the dog, popping Violet in the carrier so much easier than setting up the pushchair, we can be out of the house within minutes, which is never the case when I’m taking the whole pushchair set-up out! Top tip is to put your shoes on first though, the amount of times I put the baby carrier on then try and reach my feet! 🙂

Snuggly and Close

Violet loves being in the carrier, it calms even the biggest of meltdowns and she will often will fall asleep too. She loves being snuggled into my chest, it’s warm and they can feel your heartbeat. I’m sure it must feel like they are back in the womb as babies just love the closeness.

Free to explore

Getting about with your baby in a carrier is so much easier as you don’t need to look for step-free access or lifts. We also love our carrier for exploring bumpier terrain like the beach, walks through the woods and in the countryside, areas where a pram is just not going to manage!

Breastfeeding

I never used my carrier for breastfeeding, although I know so many Mum’s who do and it must be so handy to feed on the go! I wish I’d given it a go when Violet was small, but never mind – I’ll know for next time.

Convenience

Get stuff done around the house, run to the shops, eat your breakfast and scroll through social media – all things you can do with your baby on board. If Violet is awake she loves being nosey and watching everything I do, even if it’s something as simple as washing up, she’ll be fascinated and want to join in!
