Summer is finally here, which means that many of us are frantically trying to get our skin and nails in tip-top condition (especially after they’ve been hidden away for so long).
So that got me thinking – what products should we arm ourselves with this year to make sure we’re ‘summer-ready’?
Here’s what I’ve found:
- Sun Cream
This has to be the most important product within your beauty arsenal this year, especially if you’re going to be venturing out in the sun or on holiday.
However, many of us are guilty of forgoing sunscreen on our faces in favour of matte-finish make-up – but we shouldn’t.
If you are worried about sun cream causing a slick, oily base for your make-up, look towards specialist skin creams that contain SPF (15 minimum). These are often far less greasy and can be easily applied under your make-up.
- Lip Balm with SPF
Now that you’ve gone to all of the effort of protecting your skin, don’t forget about your lips too. We often forget that our lips are just as sensitive to UV rays as the rest of the skin, which is why it’s important to make sure you’ve got a lip balm with SPF handy at all times.
Make a point of adding it to your handbag and every time you think about applying that lipstick, apply a layer of the balm first to provide them with that all-important protection.
- Body and Foot Scrubs
The heat of summer can really dry our bodies out – and the skin on our feet will no doubt have taken a hammering over winter. So, arm yourself with some luscious body and foot scrubs to combat harder patches of skin and to create a more even-looking skin tone.
Make this a part of your weekly routine and pay extra attention to your knees, elbows, toes and ankles as this is where your skin is often at its hardest. This will also play an important role in achieving a good overall fake tan if you’re using these kinds of products.
- Hair Mask
Another key part of our bodies that dries out in the summer is our hair, which is why you’ll want to pick up a protective hair mask, too. Not only will this help restore your hair’s natural shine and moisture but it’ll help get rid of any patchy, dry skin on your scalp that leads to greasy hair and itchy sensations.
- Try Organic
Finally, when you’re looking for new products for your summer skin care and beauty regime, why not opt for organic alternatives from the likes of Neal’s Yard Remedies?
Numerous studies highlight the benefits of going organic and you’ll be doing your bit for the environment, too.
All of these won’t just help keep your skin, lips and hair happy and healthy but will keep you looking radiant all summer long, too.
