Booking family holidays is a thankless task. If you’re anything like me you’ll spend hours upon hours searching through the latest deals only to find you’ve lost out on the best one you’d found.
Thankfully, there are a number of great last-minute options available if you haven’t already booked your family holiday – and here’s my top pick of these:
- Spain
There’s a reason why so many of us Brits opt for Spain as our summer holiday destination – it has loads to offer people of all ages. Plus, it’s got great weather, delicious food and gorgeous sandy beaches – what more could you ask for?
Look for hotels that are close to the beach and have nearby water or theme parks that you can all enjoy. Or, if you prefer to enjoy some quality family time that’s uninterrupted, you may want to look at villas that are slightly off the beaten track.
- Majorca
This is another top destination and has been so for 50 years.
Why?
It boasts a short flight time, easy Majorca airport transfers, fabulous weather and all-round entertainment. If you prefer a tranquil destination, there are beautiful laid-back resorts on offer. Or, if you want to be at the centre of all the hustle and bustle, there are loads of old towns that are jam-packed full of the local culture.
You’ll also find plenty of hotels that offer kids’ entertainment, child-friendly pools and evening entertainment for the adults.
- Mexico
Fancy heading a little further afield for a tropical climate and sandy beaches as far as the eye can see? Then Mexico may be just what you’re looking for.
Not only will you and the kids find plenty of entertainment on the beach but there are also a number of day trips available to the local adventure parks. Or, for a spot of culture, you might want to visit the Mayan ruins.
There’s even the opportunity to explore Mexico’s jungles! For example, Xel Ha is in the middle of a jungle and boasts cenote pools, zip-lines and other great activities that’ll keep the whole family busy.
- Orlando
Finally, for a once-in-a-lifetime trip that you’ll treasure forever, is there anywhere better than Walt Disney World in Orlando?
From toddler attractions in the Magic Kingdom to white-knuckle rides for the older kids (and adults), this is a child’s and adult’s playground. Plus, there are loads of resorts that will have you right in the heart of the action for your entire stay, offering great entertainment and facilities for you all to enjoy. Plus, there are loads of deals available that include those all-important theme park tickets.
