At the moment, we are keeping busy during lockdown by doing up our house and the starting place is the bedroom. Our bedroom is our ultimate chill-out tranquil zone. I think it’s so important to have a happy place you can just relax in and switch off from the world after a hard day, yet at the moment our bedroom just doesn’t feel like that. It’s a busy room, with toddlers often bouncing on beds (or gatecrashing during the night), piles of clothes that we mean to put away and clutter, just everywhere.
So, with that in mind, Spring is the perfect time for a fresh start – with connotations of new beginnings, our bedroom deserves a good Spring clean. I want my tranquil chill-out zone again! With the warmer months fast approaching, we are having a total rethink to our style, so it’s time to say goodbye to cosy throws, dark colours and thick fabrics and welcome in a new, brighter boudoir. I’ve put together 5 tips on how you can refresh your bedroom, just in time for Spring!
1. Curtains and Blinds!
Updating your curtains or blinds is one of the simplest ways to add instant style and colour to your room. Make the most of natural light by taking down heavy curtains and replacing them with floaty, floor-length drapes to give your space a fresh, cheery feel. Why not jazz the room up with some home textiles in bold colours, which adds energy and a unique feel.
2. Update your bedding
Continue the theme of bright colours and transition your room into the springtime by investing in a vibrant new bedspread. Energetic patterns, nature-inspired designs and vivid citrus shades are bang on trend in the bedding domain and will instantly breathe new life into a lacklustre space. Alternatively, liven up crisp white bed sheets by adding bursts of bold colour with bright, punchy pillows or a patterned throw. If you feel your bed needs a complete makeover, why not go for a super king TV bed for ultimate comfort and luxury!
3. Clear the clutter
Ok, so tidying up can be a mundane task, but when it comes to transforming your bedroom into a bright, welcoming space, spring cleaning comes into its own. Clear out messy drawers, purge your winter wardrobe and make the space under your bed a clutter-free zone. Spring cleaning doesn’t mean you have to get rid of your favourite cosy items either – store away woolen throws, fluffy cushions and heavy curtains ready for when winter comes around again. If you don’t have the storage options, why not look into Rauch Bedroom Furniture to give your bedroom the organisational space it needs.
4. A fresh lick of paint
One of the easiest ways to give your room a seasonal revamp is with a fresh lick of paint. Using neutral colours will help to bounce natural light around the room and create the illusion of added space. If you want to make a style statement and freshen up your space with an up-to-the-minute dramatic look, you can easily create a striking focal point by covering a single wall in patterned wallpaper. I love using Pinterest to find colour scheme inspiration.
5. Attention to detail
When it comes to decorating, attention to detail can make all the difference. Adorn your walls in colourful prints, hang a large mirror to increase the sense of space and add seasonal flowers to an eye-catching vase to complete your springtime makeover. There’s no need to spend a fortune either – a few small touch-ups can make a big impact.
