Being in lockdown can be tough on families, particularly if you are close. Before lockdown, it is likely that you saw your grandparents regularly, visiting them for cups of tea or even to help them with little tasks such as tidying up, going to the shops or their hearing aid maintenance. No matter what it was, it is likely you now have a small hole in your life from when you were used to seeing them. If this is the case, there are still many ways that you can keep in touch with your elderly relatives during the pandemic. Why not get them a gift you can send them in the post? It will be lovely for them to receive something from you as a surprise and is sure to brighten up their day. Here are some top gift ideas for your grandparents during lockdown.
A family photograph
In a time when we can’t see each other, a family photograph is always a lovely thing to receive. You can get one of you and your grandparents together, or you can find a whole family one.Why not put this in a frame? Or even put together a whole photo album? Whichever you choose, it is sure to be a lovely gift they will really appreciate and something that they will look at often and think of you.
Something you have made yourself
Homemade gifts are always lovely to receive and there are so many things that you can do here – why not look on Pinterest for some inspiration? You could Crochet them a blanket to put on their bed, or you could paint or sketch a picture. If art isn’t really your thing, then why not do some baking? You could bake and ice some cookies, make some cupcakes, or any other sweet treat that you know they will love.
A Care Package
A care package is something that you could either make yourself from scratch, or that you could buy as a pre-assembled package online. There are many options out there and it is up to you what you choose. Why not put something together that has all of their favourite foods and drinks? Or you could make up a pamper package with hand cream and different teas.
Something to curb lockdown boredom
Lockdown has got many of us bored, so why not deliver them something that will help to curb their boredom? This could be anything from a new board game and puzzle book, to a film you think that they would enjoy to watch. This will hopefully help to keep them amused in a time when there isn’t much else to do and make it easier to stay inside and stay safe.
These are just three things that you can give to your grandparents during lockdown. Hopefully it won’t be too long until you can see them properly again, but until that time this is likely to make a big difference to their day! What are you most likely to go for? Let me know in the comments below!
