When it comes to getting away from the mundane nine-to-five, whether for a day, a weekend, a week or even a fortnight, you may wish to bring your furry friend along for the adventure.

With this in mind, we wanted to show you a few beaches in Cornwall that welcome dogs onto their shores, in case you were considering booking one of the November breaks UK destinations like Cornwall are offering this year and wanted to bring your dog along for the ride.

So, if you’re ready for a beach day with your pooch, come rain or shine, here are a few beaches in Cornwall you can visit.

Port Issac

Beach type – sand

Dog welcome – all year round

Postcode – PL29 3SG

Parking – a car park is available in town, which is a 10-minute walk from the beach

Port Issac, also known to many as ‘Port Wenn’ due to its use as the filming location of ITV’s Doc Martin, was once a busy port shipping slate from nearby Delabole, but is now a much quieter harbour that welcomes visitors from all over the world.

A low tide, the beach at Port Issac stretches out to the twin piers and reveals a large stretch of sandy beach. Due to being a harbour, you’ll need to share the beach with small fishing boats left stranded on the sand at low tide.

There is a small stream and a rockpool area perfect for both children and four-legged explorers to discover.

Tintagel Beach

Beach type – sand and shingle

Dogs welcome – all year round

Postcode – PL34 0HE

Parking – in town

If you’re looking to take a stroll along a cove of beach that may well have been walked on by King Arthur himself, Tintagel Beach could be the beach for you.

Located at the bottom of the valley and within the shadow of Tintagel Castle, this small stretch of beach is commonly overlooked by visitors to the area. However, to the north of the beach is a waterfall, and to the south is a cave, also known as Merlin’s Cave. Merlin’s Cave is a 300-foot tunnel that passes under Tintagel Island and the castle and is only accessible at low tide.

Just like the magic Merlin possesses, the beach completely disappears at high tide, so always check the tide times before visiting.

Whitsand Bay

Beach type – sand

Dogs welcome – all year round

Postcode – PL10 1JT

Parking – there are two car parks to choose from

Whitsand Bay is a four-mile stretch of beach located between Rame Head and Portwrinkle. It has a wild feel, where you feel you could be the only people on earth, with the channel top in the distance to remind you of civilisation existing.

Getting onto the beach can be a little tricky, footing-wise, due to the steep high-cliff paths, but access is better via the footpaths by the car parks on either end of the beach.

Now you know of just three of the best beaches to roam freely with your dog in Cornwall, which beach will you be visiting first on your staycation to Cornwall?
