Review: May Souk Souk Box

To continue with my theme this week of all things vegetarian, animal friendly and green, I was excited to be sent a ‘little green beauty box’ from Souk Souk. I came home to a little box sitting on my doorstep and and rushed to have a peak inside. Souk Souk only feature environmentally friendly beauty products, that are certified as organic, free from chemicals and not tested on animals. Each month features 4 to 5 ‘sample size’ beauty products as well as a little magazine featuring beauty tips, tutorials, recipes and news on environmental issues.

Inside my May Souk Souk* box:
Green People Moisturising Shower Gel – 84% organic shower gel with orange blossom, yucca and marshmallow. Suitable for people with sensitive skin.
Green People Nuture Body Lotion – 91% organic body lotion with perilla, evening primrose, shea butter and bergamot.
Dr Bronner’s Magic Soap 18-in-1 Hemp Rose – the ‘king of all soaps’ this multi action soap is fair traded and certified organic.
Inika Eyebrow pencil (full size) in Brunette – mineral brow pencil is 100% vegan and cruelty free, for fairer skinned this can also be used as an eyeliner.
BalmBalm Lip Balm (full size) – this is 100% organic and a multitasking balm that can be used for lips, face, body and feet. Mine came in Rose Geranium.
My Thoughts:

I am quite new to beauty boxes, and love the thought of a surprise box of treats arriving on my doorstep every month! I’m especially keen on Souk Souk for their ‘clean and green’ policy, I like to know what I am putting on my skin and like to use natural and organic products, who knows what damage applying chemicals to the skin daily can cause? I also give Souk Souk a massive thumbs up for scouting out 100% cruelty free beauty products and adding a vegetarian/vegan and fair trade logo’s to each item to make things really clear as to their ingredients and source. As for the contents of the box, I’m a huge, huge fan of the Green People’s products so was delighted to try a couple more, and was not disappointed at all. Gorgeous scented shower gel and body lotion made shower time a treat. My favourite product in the box was the Balm Balm Lip Balm, it has a gorgeous light rose scent, is deeply moisturising and can be used literally everywhere. So handy to keep in my handbag and will be a staple requirement from now on.
The brow pencil unfortunately was a little dark for me, even as an eyeliner, however it’s amazing quality and my brunette friend is over the moon with her lovely new gift! It’s good to share the love. I am yet to use the 18-in-1 soap, but with 18 different uses it’s bound to come in handy! The little magazine in the book features lots of interesting articles, including a recipe I can’t wait to try – feta, spinach and raspberry salad. Sounds delicious, I will let you know how I get on. 🙂
Overall, I would definitely recommend the Souk Souk box, and am seriously thinking of signing up for the next one. If you would like to sign up, boxes are £12 per month (+p&p), there are also other pricing options if you sign up for 6 or 12 months, which work out a little better.
Have you tried Souk Souk boxes or these products?
