FASHION: La Romance with La Redoute

After the most romantic day of the year for some, I can still feel that romantic feeling feeling lingering in the air. So, with that in mind – I thought I’d write about my most romantic moment as part of the #LaRomance competition, by La Redoute. They have teamed up with My Little Box – a French fashion, beauty and lifestyle brand to give away a touch of French style and elegance, with a years subscription to the My Little Box.
This year my whole outfit for Valentines Day was styled by La Redoute, I went for an edgey rock chick look with a Faux Leather Biker Jacket, a lace black top, adding a touch of sass and romance with a Wine Red Lace Pencil Skirt and a pair of Beige Suede Ankle boots to finish the look off.  Look out for an outfit post, coming soon!
My romance story is a little different to most, for me romance isn’t always about the classic hearts and flowers. It’s about those moments when you realise just how much that person cares for you and will be there for you, whatever happens. My story was when Vee and I were in Peru. We had only been together four months and had quite spontaneously booked a trip of a lifetime, including the famous Inca Trail trek, 4000m above sea level. I was terrified at the thought of it but not wanting to spoil the fun, booked the trip and went along with it, hoping I’ll get by.
The trek was amazing, beautiful and one of the best experiences of my life, but it was also one of the biggest challenges. On the second day (once we had passed ‘the point of no return’) we had to climb a steep upward slope for five hours which spanned so far into the distance the path disappeared into the clouds, this part was called ‘Dead Womans Pass’. Having just recovered from an illness the year before I was really struggling with the altitude, being able to take a couple of steps before I would be out of breath. My lips went blue, I had chest pains and soon we were behind the rest of the group. I could honestly have cried, I was terrified of the heights and every step I took felt so difficult. We still had hours of climbing to go, but Vee stood by me with every step, never leaving my side and always having something positive to say to keep me going.
On our way back down ‘Dead Womans Pass’ (still alive… phew)
It may not have been classically romantic, but later that day when we sat in our tent back in the campsite I realised that she really cares for me. No one had stood by my side like that and supported me through like that before, through one of the most challenging times I’d had to face we really did take each step up the mountain together. And although we were wet from the rain, grotty in muddy hiking clothes, it was actually one of the most romantic moments ever.
So, thats my story. Would you like to win a subscription to My Little Box? Share your story now!
