How to make an extra income at home

Being able to work from home or simply being able to make some extra money from the comfort of my sofa is one of the main perks of the internet. I mean… who wouldn’t want to be able to make some extra income during their free time at home?

You’ve put the kids to bed and are now browsing through your phone and wondering how you can turn your love for social media into a way of earning money or perhaps you have a hobby which you could turn into a part-time hustle. Maybe you have no idea what you could do to turn your downtime into money-earning time – don’t worry, I’ve partnered up with Award winning Magento eCommerce agency, Ad Lab and we’ve put together some ideas for you!

Start an online store.

Do you have a passion to share your homemade brownies nationwide? Or perhaps you’ve always enjoyed creating your own jewellery with polymer clay and would like to sell it to others? Why not start an online store to sell your products all around the country and beyond?

Carolina from Ad Lab recommends creating an eCommerce store on the Magento or WordPress platform, depending on what you are looking to achieve with your online store. If you need some extra help crafting the right website, the team at Ad Lab will be able to help. For some inspiration, check out Ad Labs Awwwards portfolio.

Once you’ve created your online store, where are your customers? Get your store on the front page of Google by running Google Ads, promote your store on social media or drive leads and traffic by doing a podcast.

Create a blog.

Creating a blog is a great way to earn some extra money while talking about your favourite topics. As this article by My Fashion Life says, when you are starting out your blog, it can feel overwhelming everything you need to be on top of, however, all your hard work will be paid off once you start making money from it.

Google AdSense and affiliate marketing programmes, such as Amazon Associates, are the easiest ways of making passive income with your blog. With Google AdSense, you can easily feature ads on your blog, and with affiliate marketing programmes, you can earn a commission every time someone purchases a product you’ve promoted. Sounds easy, right? Because it is!

Take advantage of social media.

If you already love scrolling through social media, why not look at it more as a business and start partnering with your favourite brands to create sponsored posts? If companies aren’t reaching out to you, get in touch with them and directly pitch your ideas. Alternatively, you can also join influencer networks where you can see a variety of sponsor jobs available.

Sell your services.

Do you have online skills that could be helpful or useful to others? This includes copywriting, design, photography, social media management and much more. There are plenty of jobs you can do from home which you’d be great at! Lylia Rose recommends promoting any and all online services you offer on social media, online networking events or by signing up to websites such as Fiverr.

What are some other ways you make an income from home?
