An evening learning a skill that could save a life – our Daisy First Aid course

    9 June, 2019

A few months ago we had quite a serious choking incident with Pearl. She was sitting happily eating bread in her highchair, around 7 months old. She was loving trying foods and would always put way too much into her mouth, taking another bite before finishing the first. Taking another big bite, all of a

    29 May, 201929 May, 2019

Well, it’s official, I’m out of the Two-Under-Two club, having proudly held Gold Membership for a 7 month stint (although it felt longer at the time!) Now I’m safely on the other side, I’m pleased to say things ARE getting easier, so I thought it would be a good time to reflect over the last

Never would I think I'd be writing this post, but Never would I think I'd be writing this post, but I think... I might be a runner? ๐Ÿ˜จ I'm as shocked as you are, but I am actually REALLY enjoying it, as well as feeling stronger and fitter, it gives the biggest boost to my mental health and a bit of space from lockdown life at home ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป When I started I couldn't run for 60 seconds and today we ran for 30 minutes ๐Ÿคฏ We headed down to Brighton seafront and although the sea breeze was chilly, it was so invigorating, challenging and such a boost. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป

I get lots of DM's about how to start running, so I thought I'd share some tips:

๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ Try the Couch 2 5K app - that's where I started, it's a gentle introduction and builds up over time

๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ Get yourself a pair of running trainers that are super comfy and don't rub.

๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ Don't worry about expensive running clothing - start in whatever you have, the supermarkets have great running gear too. It doesn't have to cost much.

๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ If it feels impossible when you start, just keep going. I couldn't run 60 seconds only a few months ago. Just build up slowly and steadily.

๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ Connect with other friends who run on Strava and share your progress!

๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ Use your running time to unwind, explore a new path near your house, take in the crisp fresh air or a beautiful sunset.

๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ Set yourself manageable and fun goals to work to. #RedJanuary has kept me going this month!

๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ Just get out there, don't worry about what people think!

๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ Most importantly, don't give up! You've totally got this! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป

Let me know if you give it a try. Have you been out running recently?

Another day, another park. Does anyone else feel l Another day, another park. Does anyone else feel like their toes will be permanent ice blocks by the end of this lockdown....? โ„๏ธ

How was your day? โ˜•
Yesterday I shared that getting these two dressed Yesterday I shared that getting these two dressed in the morning is becoming IMPOSSIBLE. They are driving me INSANE. Why won't they get dressed? I mean, how hard could it be to dress a small child?! I felt like I must be doing something so wrong - I can't dress my own children without a battle! But no, it turns out toddlers are just beasts when it comes to getting dressed (even when a trip to the park or a chocolate Santa is offered!) Trust me, trying to get tiny pants on a small child rolling around on their back and bicycle kicking their legs is near on impossible and I honestly, give up.

Anyway, when I mentioned this - my DM's EXPLODED. Turns out toddlers everywhere are refusing to get dressed. Who knew this was such a problem?! It wasn't until I started talking about I realised so many of us are in the same boat. I wonder what other moments in our day are all suffering but nothing is really said about it? Have you ever felt like that? Maybe these small moments are some of the hardest.... So, I just wanted to say if you feel like it's all going wrong, it's not. It's just really hard. Toddlers really test you, they are testing their own boindaries too. Can anyone relate? โค๏ธ
Happy Sunday โœจ It's been a challenging week, but Happy Sunday โœจ

....And these are the views that keep me going whe ....And these are the views that keep me going when I run ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿฅฐ.

I'm really not a natural runner, in fact, exercise in general has never come naturally to me. It all feels like a slog, but the more I try, the easier it's getting - even when I'm huffing, puffing, sweating and running like Phoebe from Friends. I'm currently doing the #RedJanuary challenge which is getting me through the month, it's given me the kick up the bum I need to put my running shoes on when it's icy cold outside, or get on the bike when I'm feeling exhausted. Knowing me and my team have raised nearly ยฃ400 for @SportinMind brings me so much joy too! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป

As we go into the second part of the month I'm feeling like the next couple of weeks is going to be quite a slog, it is EXHAUSTING - but I'm trying to remember that things are tough out there, but just getting a couple of minutes for some fresh air or to take in a beautiful sunset has boosted my mood more than I can tell you. It's the little things we need to look for in these challenging times, right? ๐Ÿ˜
