Winter Face Favourites

Winter Face Favourites

It’s that time of year again when I’m upping my skincare routine to protect my skin from the cold, crisp air. It might not be freezing yet, but I’ve heard come January it’s going to be bleak – so it’s time to get my skincare and make-up routine in order. It’s also a time to reconsider colourings and shades to use, mainly for me, to avoid looking too pasty and pale! Also, at this time of year my skin starts to look a little dull and just a bit on the sad side. I get these annoying little red patches, usually around my nose from the cold too – how attractive! Where did that summer sun kissed glow disappear to? Hmmph.

So, here are a few of my favourite products at the moment and what is currently being used for my daily make up routine:

Colour Corrector by Proto-col

Proto-col Baked Mineral Foundation* (£27.95) – This time of year requires a little more coverage than warmer times, my skin gets a little patchy so I love using a powder foundation to cover a whole miriad of blemishes, patches and inconsistencies. I was recently introduced to the Proto-col range and have been loving it so far, along with the flawless coverage the pressed powder uses a combination of hypoallergenic and anti-inflammatory ingredients to ease the extra sensitivity this time of year can bring. It also comes in a cute little compact, perfect for any make-up bag, ideal! I use the lightest shade (Dover) which is actually a lot lighter/less orangey than this photo above (excuse the odd winter lighting!)

Proto-col Colour Corrector Powder* (£27.95) My other favourite Protocol product is the colour corrector. It might seem a bit strange to put green colouring on your face, but green actually cancels out red and the lilac shade combats the yellow/sallow colour to brighten and warm any skin tone.

Winter Face Favourites

MD No Concealer Concealer* (£29.00) – This time of year is all about getting the coverage you need, without looking like you have applied your make-up with a trowel, so this concealer is just ideal. This light concealer effortlessly blurs imperfections whilst brightening the skin using the power of Vitamin C. This blend also stimulates collagen around the eye, helping to fade away the appearance of fine lines and dark circles under the eye. A must-have during the Christmas party season!

Clinique Contouring Chubby Stick (£19.00) – I’ve talked about the Clinique Contouring Chubby Stick before, however this remains one of my absolute go-to products. I have to say, I don’t have the time to contour every day, but for a night out it’s the quickest and easiest way to contour and perfect for adding a little colour to pale skin.

Plum Shades – It’s time to add some colour to liven any bleak winter day and it’s got to be plum shades at this time of year. This season my favourite plums are…

Lips – 18 Violine Strass by Boujois

Lip liner –03 by GOSH

Nails – Shearling Darling by Essie
